Patent No. U.S. 7,189,454 B2 Engelhard has been granted a patent for a pigment comprised of an effect pigment substrate having a pyrolyzed carbon-containing organic coating thereon, the organic coating is comprised of at least one carbon-containing ionic polymer species and the pyrolyzed carbon-containing organic coating contains below four percent weight nitrogen.
